Special Issue: Advancements in Technology-Enhanced Assessment in Tertiary Education

The special issue will focus on exploring assessment methodologies specifically suited for tertiary education. By examining the intersection between emerging technologies and assessment design, this special issue will provide AJET readers with insights and inspire thoughtful reflections on the evolution of assessment strategies in the digital era.

The importance of this topic lies in its ability to stimulate conversations and thoughtful reflections on how assessment practices in tertiary education are evolving, especially in the face of the latest advances in generative AI. The special issue objectives are as follows:

  1. Introduce Innovative Approaches: Shed light on groundbreaking methods that leverage technology to redefine assessment approaches, offering practical insights for educators and policymakers.
  2. Encourage Collaborative Discourse: Foster interdisciplinary partnerships to explore diverse and creative solutions for designing technology-enhanced assessments.
  3. Consider Ethical and Policy Implications: Increase awareness and facilitate dialogue regarding the fair integration of technology in assessments encompassing aspects such as academic integrity, academic assessment policies, data privacy, accessibility and inclusivity.
  4. Embrace Diversity: By showcasing a variety of perspectives and contexts, this issue aims to enrich the conversation surrounding technology-enhanced assessments fostering a comprehensive understanding.

We are inviting evidence-based papers including theoretical contributions related to this theme, including but not limited to:

  • Technology-Enhanced Formative Assessment and Feedback
  • AI-Powered Assessments
  • Games and Assessments
  • Blockchain and Assessment
  • Interdisciplinary Approaches to Assessment
  • Designing Inclusive Assessments

Submission Instructions 

Submission addressing the special issue’s focus should be submitted through the AJET online submission system. Please review the Author Guidelines and Submission Preparation Checklist carefully, and prepare your submission accordingly. Information about the peer review process and criteria is also available for your perusal.

Decision on submissions: May 2024

Revised/final submissions: July 2024

Articles ready for copyediting: August 2024

Expected Publication: October 2024
